summary of what ive been up to

Well ive been really slack with this whole blog thing, so i thought id give a bit of an update. Ive been in Canada for 12 days now, things are going well and im starting to adapt to Canadian culture. Ive been flat out the whole time from meeting sooooo many new people, to getting drunk, to epic days of snowboarding, to even slipping the cheeky workout at the gym.
My place in the halls is all good! Ive met two of my flat mates who are too Canadian guys, there is a germen guy as well but he went home for the holidays so im yet to meet him. I think i defiantly was placed in the right flat in this building! These guys know how to party and drink, but im showing them that kiwis can defiantly chop more than Canadians haha. This Wednesday just been was the meeting of all the other international students at a pub not so far away! Met heapsa real kool people, but cant remember anyones names, things got messy that night, was not feeling too flash the next day! I went snowboarding the following day with 3 lovely Canadian girls who were kind enough to take me up to the ski slopes, had a wicked as day! Soooooo much snow its crazy! Last night all the international students went to a western bar called ranchmans, it was pretty awesome, lernt some mad as line dancing moves and consumed large quantities of alcohol, it was good times all round. Today going to go ice skating, its definitely going to be interesting, i really don’t see myself as a strong skater haha. List of things yet to do is go and see a live ice hockey game of the Calgary Flames! Hockey is massive over here, its pretty much like us with rugby.
Weather here hasn’t been tooooo bad, only been -5 to -10 last few days which is pretty warm for here, a week ago it was like -28 deg, now thats just not kool at all!!
As far as photos go, ive been reallllll slack and have taken jack all, but i know lots of other ppl have been taking photos so ill steal them and put them up!
Classes start Monday so making the most of the free time, might even be going snowboarding AGAIN 2moro, trying to suss it out today.
Well thats a very generalised summary of what ive been up to, im starting to get used to all the wired stuff over here, everything is just..well....different i guess. Ill try and get some photos up soon!
Keep in touch!

Peace!

happy new years from canada!!

well i made it, now in my 3rd day here in Canada. A lot has happened since I’ve been here so ill just give a general overview of my events of the last few days, well here it goes:
finally got myself into Calgary where i was introduced to -18 degrees!!!! sooooo cold man! But any way i then got dropped off at clints house but before that my ride managed to get the car stuck in the snow on the side of the road! (there is sooooooooo much snow, like all the roads are covered in snow as well, its crazy!) so i had to get out and push! so that was a fun experience haha. Any way didn’t sleep for like 38 hours and finally went to bed that night (monday). Yesterday (tuesday) i put on all my layers (thermal, shirt, sweatshirt AND a jacket) and we went for a walk to the mall, It was -17 so i was freeeeeeeezing walking there. Clint reckons i need to harden up!lol I managed to end up coming home with a new jacket and a vest, realllll mean warm ones, crazy prices i only paid $60 for both! sooooo cheap! after lunch me and clint then put all the snowboard gears on and caught the bus to COP ( Canada Olympic Park). We boarded for about an hour there as there are only a couple of small runs, but it was awesome!!! loved being able to snowboard again, and the snow is sooooooo mean, 1000 times better snow than NZ! After getting back from COP it was time to kick off new years so starting hitting a bit of Canadian beers. Ended up at a random as pub most of the night, then walked home for about an hour in the freezing cold! that was not a fun experience. We were supposed to be going boarding this morning at one of the slopes on the Rockies about 2hours away, but we are all wayyyyyy to hung over and tired so thats going to be delayed for another day.

any ways i cnt be bothered writing more, ill post up some more pics soon.

Departing in two days...

Im about to leave in 2 days, have most of my stuff all sorted out, had a few leaving drinks last night which ended up getting pretty messy as expected! A very eventfull night in hamilton! good times. Not feeling the flashest today.

The plan is to head to Auckland 2moro with Dad and stay in a motel close to the airport. Then 4am Tuesday morning i have to be at the airport to check-in. Departing aucks at 6.30am over to Sydney, i then have a 15 hour flight to Vancouver!! i reckon i could get drunk on the flight, sober up and then get drunk again!haha but ill probaly just end up sleeping and eating and watching movies lol. I then will arrive in Calgary at 11am on the 30th. So after 22hours of flying it will only be 5 hours ahead of the same day i departed! that's going to be a lonnnnnnngggggg day!!!

Once i arrive in Calgary im staying with my friend from high school clint for 3 nights, planing on going to a big party at a big pub for new years which will be fun! i think ill be getting drunk so i dont feel the cold so much! (its currently temps of around -20 degrees!!!) any ways thats all for now, more to come once i arrive! Can't wait to fainlly get to snowboard again!
